PGSO Finishes Season Despite the Challenges
By Ruth Langner - Thursday Apr. 22nd, 2010
As orchestras generally struggle to make ends meet, the PGSO is in good company. The current economic storm may have stripped away the curtains but the stage is not bare. We continue to review our budget and remain diligent in our spending.
We have increased our engagement with community musicians, focusing on 'Close to Home' and there has been tremendous grass roots willingness to contribute talent, time and funds from all levels of the community. We have made changes in concert programming to make use of our own extensive music library. Local music students participating in the Side by Side project will be taking the stage once again at our Spring Celebrations concert.
At our recent concert, Romantic Passions, David Louie returned to Prince George to present Brahms Concerto, and it was clear fhat the audience was thrilled by their enthusiastic standing ovation! We expect nothing less than to dazzle you at our season finale concert May 1st.
Our Music Director, Les Dala, has prepared an exciting new season full of great musical concerts and opportunities for sponsorships are now available. Details of the programming and publication of the season brochure have been delayed due to the restructuring within the organization. Your understanding is truly appreciated.
We salute our volunteers behind the stage, without whom the season would not be possible. If ever there was a time to show your support for the PGSO by your attendance at our concerts, it is now.
