Anne Grimm

Dutch Soprano Anne Grimm studied violin and voice at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam and received scholarships from the Fonds voor de Podiumkunsten to pursue her vocal studies in London.  Since then she has been held in high regard for her work in opera, concert and recital throughout Europe, North America and New Zealand.
Highlights of Ms. Grimm’s career include appearances at the Netherlands Opera in Monteverdi’s ORFEO, in Handel’s RINALDO under Christophe Roussel in France, and staged works of Handel at the Halle Handel Festspiele and the Pottsdam Festival Sans Souci.  She has also toured with Ton Koopman and the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra and Choir appearing at festivals throughout Europe including Salzburg and Ambronay.  In the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam, she has sung the role of Xenia in BORIS GODUNOV under Rozhdestvensky with the Rotterdam Philharmonic, Bach’s MATTHÄUS PASSION with the Combattimento Consort,
WEIHNACHTSORATORIUM with the Amsterdamse Bachsolisten, Gluck’s L’ORFEO under Christian Zacharias with the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra as well as performing in Montemezzi’s L’AMORE DEI TRE RE with the Radio Symphony Orchestra of Holland.
Other performances have included DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE for the National Reisopera, Holland, JOHANNES PASSION with De Nederlandse Bachvereniging, Mozart’s EXULTATE JUBILATE with the Orchestra of Flanders, Belgium, under Massimo Zanetti and Britten’s SPRING SYMPHONY in New Zealand under Brian Law.  In North America she has sung Bach’s WEIHNACHTSORATORIUM with the Bach Choir of Bethlehem, MASS IN B MINOR at
Tanglewood under Paul Halley, Mozart’s REQUIEM with the Victoria Symphony and performed in recital for Music from Montreal on CBC Radio with pianist Michael McMahon.  She has also appeared with the Off Centre Music Salon in Toronto at the Glenn Gould Studio and with the Ottawa Chamber Music Festival.  Recently she performed in an Opera Gala with the National Arts Centre Orchestra and Opera Lyra in Ottawa under Pinchas Zuckerman and in recital at the Elora Festival.
In 2006-2007, she performed MESSIAHs with the Elora Festival Singers and the Okanagan Singers, Bach’s MASS IN B MINOR with the Bach Choir of Bethlehem and Haydn’s DIE SCHÖPFUNG with the Victoria Symphony as well as extensive engagements singing the works of Bach in Europe.   Performances in Winnipeg, Victoria, and in Europe claim her attention in 2007-2008. 
Engagements for 2005-2006 included performances in Poland, Italy and Holland with the Orchestra of the 18th Century under Frans Bruggen in Rameau’s LES INDES GALANTES, MESSIAH with Tafelmusik and Symphony Nova Scotia, an extensive tour of Holland as soprano soloist in MATTHÄUS PASSION, JOHANNES PASSION with Apollo’s Fire in Cleveland and at the Ojai Festival in California and WEIHNACHTSORATORIUM with the Bach Choir of Bethlehem.  Anne Grimm has recorded for Erato, Harmonia Mundi, NM Classics, Vanguard Classics, Troubadisc and Sony.
