Singer and musician Michael Hope is one of today's most compelling pops vocalists. Gifted with a gorgeous baritone voice and impeccable musicianship, he has captivated and charmed audiences in both Canada and The United States. He first gained international recognition as the 1st prizewinner in the 1988 CMC International Stepping Stones Competition. Since then he has appeared with virtually every Canadian orchestra plus symphonies in the United States. This season he will appear with the Calgary Philharmonic, The Kamloops Symphony and The Sudbury Symphony. He was recently featured as a soloist in the television production "Whole Notes" which is regularly broadcast nationally on the Bravo! and PBS television networks. Michael was also featured in a series of television commercials produced for The Alberta Human Rights Commission's "Help Make Difference" initiative.
Michael is also a distinguished recording artist. His newest CD, "What A Wonderful World" has been a huge success. His Christmas release "Silent Night" made The Calgary Herald's Top 10 Holiday CD list of 2002, and his other hit "Bewitched" has also received critical acclaim.
A native of Toronto, Michael is a graduate of the prestigious Curtis Institute Of Music in Philadelphia. He currently holds the full-time position of 2nd bassoonist in the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra and in addition to spending time with his family, he enjoys watching movies, repairing his vintage 1986 Toyota Camry, and watching Desperate Housewives on Sunday nights!
