"Music can change the world. The great responsibiity and noble task to nurture a community while at the same time provide artistically excellent entertainment is entrusted to one major promoter -- the symphony orchestra. As the mystic philosopher of ancient China, Lao Tzu said, "Music in the soul can be heard by the universe."
Croatian conductor Miran Vaupotić is quickly establishing himself as a sought after young artist. Currently he is Resident Conductor of the Zagreb Symphony Orchestra in Zagreb, Croatia, Principal Guest Conductor of the Russian Symphony Orchestra Prokofiev in Moscow, Russia and Associate Conductor of the Lugansk Philharmonic Orchestra in Lugansk, Ukraine.
Miran is a two-time first prize winner of All-Croatian Competition, prize winner of 1999 Pula International Competition, the Laureate of the 2003 Confédération Mondiale de L'Accordéon - CMA - Trophée Mondial de l'Accordéon in Italy and the Grand Prize winner of Music Golden Tropohy 2007 International Competition in New York, USA as well as 1st prize winner of the International Festival InterArtia 2008 Music Competitions in Volos, Greece and Special Schnittke Award winner of 2008 IBLA Grand Prize World Competition in Sicily, Italy. The International Art Society & Academy declared him Artist of the Year 2008.
Miran has appeared with many well-known orchestras and his performances have been radio broadcasted in Croatia, Portugal, France, Canada and Romania. He recorded a CD of symphony music by Italian composer Roberto Di Marino which will be published in 2011. Miran will be conducting the world premiere of Roberto Di Marinos Prelude e Danza with the Prince George Symphony Orchestra.
Mr. Vaupotić holds a masters degree from the Juraj Dobrila University in Pula where is studied with most prominent opera conductor in ex-Yugoslavia Miroslav Homen among others and was the recipient of the Rector Scholarship. He also studied at the Ino Mirkovich Music Academy under licence of Moscow State Conservatory P.I. Tchaikovsky in Lovran.
